2017 Agricultural Heritage Tour - Saturday 7/22/2017 - 9:00 am

The 2017 tour will visit the southern part of Umatilla County – the Ukiah / Albee area – where livestock operations once flourished, including a small number of dairies. Sheep and cattle dominated, with some ranches focusing on blooded horse lines. Poor yields discouraged any extended cultivation of the land. Currently the area serves primarily as summer grazing for large cattle operations. The tour will visit some of the earlier ranch sites, a couple of historic barns, early timber culture locations, still existent stake-and-rider fencing, and will provide participants with insight into the area’s changing agricultural economy through presentations and conversation with residents. The group will meet at Heritage Station Museum to board a charter bus, which will take them to the different locations on the tour. They will also enjoy a catered lunch in Ukiah. Ticket prices are $60/UCHS members, $65/general admission. LIMITED SEATING-- only 5 tickets left!* Call to reserve your seat today: 541-276-0012

*After the bus is filled, we will start a wait list for this tour. The wait list does NOT guarantee a seat on the tour, but if it fills up, there may be a second bus ordered. Tickets are available only on a first come-first serve basis.
